W.I.S.E. originated at Woodlands High School almost
30 years ago. We are finally developing our web site
which will include more information in the near
future.
W.I.S.E. consists of several basic elements including:
working and meeting with a teacher/mentor on a weekly basis,
maintaining a written journal on a daily basis, researching a specific
topic, volunteering at a community or professional organization and
organizing a final presentation. Students are evaluated by a panel
consisting of students, mentors, community members, and coordinators
W.I.S.E. offers graduating seniors an opportunity to explore their
community resources, potential careers, or personal interests prior to
attending college. The final presentation, journal, and other requirements
provide an outstanding preparation for college-level studies.

The Woodlands Individualized Senior Experience is a program that permits students to design and implement their own self-directed projects during their senior year. Social studies, English and physical education credits are awarded to seniors completing the program.

2001-2002 School Year

The WISE program requires task force governing and control, it is open to students of all ability levels, and it is offered for formal school credit. When its founder created WISE, he reinvented the senior year; WISE teaches people responsibility and communication skills, and introduces them to the world around them.
